Try TimeWriter

If you want to try TimeWriter, you start by simply downloading it! During the download, just choose the product of your choice (Standard, Pro or Freeware) and use it for free for the first 2 months. After that, you will pay for a 1-year user license if you decide to continue using the hours tracking software. If you are not satisfied with it after your two 2 months, you do not need to do anything, nothing will be charged. The use of TimeWriter Freeware is completely free and only for 1 user.

Download TimeWriter

To use TimeWriter, you must first download it as follows:

1.    Go to "2 months free TimeWriter" under Handy Downloads (see footer)
2.    Choose your operating system; Windows or Mac OSX
3.    Click on the file at the bottom of your screen 
4.    Select the desired language for the program (you can choose from Dutch or English)
5.    Choose the program you want to install (Freeware, Standard or Pro)
6.    Enter the folder in which TimeWriter should be installed
7.    Enter the data for the proxy configuration if you wish to use the cloud. If you do not want that, you can proceed anonymously and click without entering "Next"
8.    Choose "Complete"

Once the program is installed, you can create a shortcut and start TimeWriter from the desktop. To do this, you must select the options and click on "Finish".

Explanation of TimeWriter Terminology

There are different terms to know when using TimeWriter. If you want to know what the different terms mean, please read the following definitions:

 

Database Access

TimeWriter can be used in the cloud or local area and via desktop client and web client. This depends on the version and your preferences. For more about this, please read the different product descriptions.

 

Target Audience

With many different options, TimeWriter is suitable for any industry. The additional features in Pro make it very efficient for larger organizations. For the smaller companies, the Standard version is much more effective because the less useful options for are not included.

 

System Requirements

TimeWriter does not set high demands on your hardware. All regular available hardware is suitable for use.

 

Web Client / Desktop Client

For the setup, use, and management of TimeWriter, you use a desktop client. This provides maximum performance and ease of use, but requires installation of the program. If that is not possible or desirable, you can use the web client. This is a highly simplified version and only suitable for entering hourly entries and retrieving reports.

 

Mobile Clients

Apps for both Android and iOS are available. These also work on your mobile offline so no Internet connection is required. Freeware users can sync only through the cloud. For Standard and Pro, it is also possible through the desktop client.

 

Control Panel

In addition to the regular desktop client, in the TimeWriter5 / client folder, there is a TimeWriter control panel. The control panel can perform a number of tasks such as data import from other TimeWriter databases and setting the database location.

 

Terminology

Naming of fields and aspects in TimeWriter is done as best suits your organization.

 

Module Authorizations

This controls and manages the roles that TimeWriter users perform.

 

Authorizations

Per employee, and in Pro per group, you set this up where employees / groups can book their dates.

 

Combinations

Prevent incorrect bookings by setting permissible combinations of master data (customer / project / activity).

 

Weekly Grid

A graphical view of a week (such as in Outlook) in which the hours are displayed. The sizes of the planes depend on the duration of the hourly booking.

 

Week List

Graphical view of the week in which the hours are displayed. The size of the planes does not depend on the duration of the hourly booking. This is especially useful if you enter a lot of short bookings that are shown in the "weekly window" very small.

 

User Fields

Create new user fields if you want to save additional data in TimeWriter's database. This can be done with master data, but also with hourly entries. The user fields are fully available for reports and exports.

 

Billing

With TimeWriter, you can customize your invoices to your corporate style. The billing rules can be grouped or incorporated in detail on the invoice. The journal rules can be exported to various accounting packages.
